STANTON, Mich. (WOOD) - Storms hit parts of West Michigan the night of July 4 and carried over to the east side of the state early the next morning.
The storms knocked out power to about 325,000 DTE Energy customers and 104,000 Consumers Energy customers. Power was restored last weekend.
Montcalm County was one of the counties that sustained the most damage in West Michigan. 24 Hour News 8 crews noticed damage in the Six Lakes and Stanton areas, as numerous trees, limbs and utility lines were knocked down by strong winds.
There were damage reports in Ionia, Kent and Newaygo counties as well.
