PINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A "large sum" of money found along a road has been returned to its rightful owner.

A bicyclist spotted the cash inside an envelope around 8 a.m. July 4 on the shoulder of Kendaville Road near M-91 in Pine Township, according to Michigan State Police.

The bicyclist said he didn't see the cash while riding in the same area the day before.

The good Samaritan turned the money over to police in hopes of the owner being located.

That owner called police Wednesday and correctly identified the money and envelope.
