REYNOLDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A Detroit dementia patient who disappeared Monday died in a car crash in Montcalm County early Tuesday morning.

The victim has been identified as 74-year-old James Odell Clemons.

Howard City police were called to scene on M-46 in Reynolds Township around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Odell was driving a Ford Flex westbound when he drove over two sets of rumble strips, through the stop sign at Amy School Road and collided with a dirt embankment located on the other side of the intersection.

The accident was reported by a nearby resident who heard a nonstop car horn and called 911, authorities say.
