FAIRPLAINS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Two Kent County teens were arrested in Montcalm County after a deputy saw them allegedly stealing tires and rims from a car at a Fairplains Township intersection.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. on November 10, officials said. The deputy originally thought the car at the intersection was a stranded motorist, but determined instead the tires and rims were being stolen.
A Chevy Tracker then took off on Sheridan Road, but left the road and hit a road sign and some trees near West Fenwick and South Collins roads.
The four people in the car fled into the woods, and two 18-year-olds were caught -- one from Grand Rapids, the other from Ada. The other two people remain at large.
The stolen property was recovered, and the teens face charges of larceny, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.
