PIERSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 29-year-old Ionia man has been charged with murdering a Pierson Township mother.

Montcalm County Sheriff's Department officials tell 24 Hour News 8 the man, whose name has not been released, knew the victim and has been in police custody since Saturday.

Julie Lynn Danielson, 31, was found dead in the basement of a house in the 4000 block of Whitefish Woods Drive early Saturday morning.

Detectives say they followed up on several leads during the weekend and believe they have pieced together all the events that led to the murder.

The suspect will be arraigned on an open murder charge later this week.
