GREENVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - A man arrived at his ex-wife's Greenville home to pick up their son and found the woman dead, authorities say.

The 38-year-old woman was found dead in her home in the 600 block of Harrison Street in Greenville between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, Greenville Department of Public Safety Director Mike Pousak told 24 Hour News 8.

The 3-year-old boy answered the door and his father asked where the boy's mother was, and the boy said she was upstairs. The man went upstairs in the residence and saw her dead.

There was some blood, Pousak said.

Police were called to the scene and the Michigan State Police mobile crime lab was brought in from Grand Rapids to aid in the investigation.

As of Monday, no cause of death had been determined. An autopsy was inconclusive, Pousak said.

Police are investigating the death as suspicious.

Pousak said authorities hope to get more information on Tuesday about a cause of death.
