EUREKA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - One of three people died after being involved in a two-vehicle collision in Montcalm County late Wednesday afternoon.
Aero Med took one of the drivers -- Kenneth Wheelock of Greenville -- to a hospital where he passed away.
His wife, Athalie Wheelock, was a passenger in his vehicle and also taken to a hospital.
The other driver -- Philip Albert of Belding -- was also hospitalized.
Michigan State Police Trooper Rob Metivier told 24 Hour News 8 that Albert was traveling north on M-91 near Snows Lake Road in Eureka Township at 5:37 p.m. when the driver's-side front tire on his pickup truck went flat. The truck then crossed the center line and struck a southbound minivan nearly head-on.
Authorities said there was a cooler of beer in the truck, but they don't yet know if alcohol was a factor in the wreck or if Albert was just transporting the beverages.
