HOWARD CITY, Mich. (WOOD) - A man who claims he was a passerby to a fatal hit-and-run accident may be charged with killing the pedestrian.
The 24-year-old driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, but has not been charged in the death of Scott Gregory, 25, from Howard City.
The driver told police he saw the victim lying on W. Edgerton Street in Howard City early Friday morning, continued to drive to his nearby home and told his dad who called 911.
Police received the call at 2:28 a.m. and "it was evident that the victim had been struck by a vehicle and was dead when emergency responders arrived on scene," according to a news release.
The investigation revealed evidence possibly linking the passerby's vehicle as being involved in the crash.
"Crime scene technicians will be conducting analysis of the vehicle to determine if it was involved in the crash," according to the Montcalm County Sheriff's Department.
