CATO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The driver of a car died at the scene of an accident and his passenger was taken to a hospital.

Stephen Ray Duvall was driving north on Youngman Road about a half mile north of Almy Road in Cato Township when he lost control of his vehicle.

The car went off the west side of the road and hit a tree around 12:45 p.m. Monday, police said.

Montcalm County rescue personnel arrived at the scene where Duvall was pronounced dead.

His passenger, John Spink III, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The men were not wearing seat belts, police said, and alcohol and drug use are not suspected in the incident.
