OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man is still recovering from his injuries after a large tree branch fell on his truck.
Nicholas Lober, 57, was traveling north on Lincoln Lake Avenue, just south of 14 mile Road in Oakfield Township, around 4:40 p.m. Friday when part of a tree gave way and fell on his Toyota Tundra pickup. Authorities said the tree branch crashed through his windshield and possibly a sun roof.
Heavy rain may have played a factor in the accident by causing the branch to fall off an old oak tree, according to the Oakfield Township fire chief.
Lober managed to stop his truck in the opposite lane, but suffered a head injury. He was transported by an ambulance to Greenville Airport so Aero Med could fly him to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital.
A witness said he appeared conscious as paramedics worked on him.
The intersection of Lincoln Lake and Podunk Avenue was closed, but re-opened a short time later.
