BAD AXE, Mich. (AP) - A woman who stole more than $23,000 in lottery tickets from a Michigan gas station where she worked has been sentenced to about 10 months in jail.

The Huron Daily Tribune of Bad Axe reports 43-year-old Connie May Husen also was ordered in Huron County Circuit Court to serve three years of probation and pay more than $23,000 in restitution to the Caseville One Stop gas station.

The Huron County woman told the court Monday that she is responsible for her actions, and she apologized.

Defense lawyer Jim Woodworth says Husen has a severe gambling problem. Husen earlier pleaded guilty to an embezzlement charge.

Prosecutors say Husen stole lottery tickets between February 2012 and November 2012. Police say video footage showed her taking other items as well.
