Boy, 4, dies in homecoming parade

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) - A 4-year-old boy died after he was run over by a trailer while walking near a float in the Wyoming High School homecoming parade.

Authorities said Jordan Lamrouex was walking beside a float after he was helped off by his parents early Friday night. But while walking near the float, he was run over by the trailer tires.

"Apparently was walking along or near one of the floats and had either stumbled or was pulled under the float tire," said Lt. Scott Beckman of the Wyoming Police Department.

Lamrouex was seriously injured and rushed to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids where he later died.

Wyoming Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Reeder said the district reached out to the Lamrouex family this weekend, offering any support they can.

Reeder said the Lamrouexs are extremely involved with the schools; they have two other children and they are both alums.

The community, recently united under the purple and black colors after Wyoming's high schools consolidated, took a moment to remember Jordan at the homecoming game.

"When the game started, our principal called a moment of silence for the child and family," said Sherri Wosoba, who has a child at Wyoming High School.

A community that has had to come together before after two high school students were killed in a summer crash will once again mourn the loss of one of its own.

Reeder said crisis teams will be at all school buildings Monday morning. Counselors were also on hand at the game Friday night.
