KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) - A broken water pipe in Kentwood caused problems for residents and businesses on 36th Street Saturday.

A Kentwood police officer was driving along the street when he noticed water shooting 4 feet into the air.

The City was notified about the water main break around 3:30 p.m.

Crews then closed 36th Street between Shaffer and Broadmoor Avenue.

Crews worked to pinpoint exactly where the break occurred.

Authorities believe the damage was caused by the winter weather. There have been at least six water main breaks in Kent County since the beginning of 2013.
