GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 14-year-old accused of shooting to death a 20-year-old man at his Walker home will be charged as an adult with the case being handled in the court's family division.
In what is called a Prosecutor Designation Case, the Kent County Prosecutor's office consulted with Michael Haminger's family and decided to charge the teen as an adult. Haminger was shot to death on Sept. 23 , allegedly by the teen.
The 14-year-old will be charged with open murder and his arraignment is expected Thursday.
