BYRON CENTER, Mich. (WOOD) - Byron Center Wholesale Meats recalled approximately 6,586 pounds of ham products on Sunday.
The ham was produced without a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points Plan (HACCP), according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
Officials said the problem was discovered when an inspector observed employees making diced and sliced ham products from whole hams. The hams were labeled as fully cooked, but the company doesn't have a HACCP plan, which addresses hazards in the production process.
The following products have been recalled:
The meats have the establishment number "Est. 2592" inside of the U.S. Department of Agriculture mark of inspection. The products were produced prior to March 1 and distributed in Michigan and Indiana.
There are not yet any reports of illness.
