COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) - A van slammed into a building in Comstock Park around 3 a.m Saturday, knocking power out to residents in the area.

The driver was speeding on southbound West River Drive when and lost control of the vehicle near Lamoreaux Drive NE, hit a telephone pole and then the building, police said.

This resulted in a power outage to nearby homes and businesses.

It is not known if the driver -- 41-year-old Deondra McElroy from Comstock Park -- was wearing a seat belt. She was taken to a hospital after suffering facial injuries.

Alcohol was a contributed factor in the crash, police said in a news release.
