Trial avoided; man, 23, admits rape

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - On the day his rape trial was scheduled to begin, Gregory Quinn pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual assault and armed robbery.

On September 14, 2011, Quinn and Lucas Such assaulted two women in a secluded area near Plainfield Avenue and Grove Street on as the victims were walking down the street.

Such, 18 when he was arrested, pleaded no contest in January and was sentenced to up to 40 years in prison in February.

Quinn, 23, faces up to life in prison. One charge of unarmed robbery was dropped in exchange for his plea.

He will be sentenced May 24.
