ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) - A Rockford High School student could face charges of filing a false police report.
The unnamed male, who is a member of the school's cross-country team, told police he was approached by a stranger while on a run during the morning of Aug. 17.
He said a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer followed him through a subdivision near Concolor Drive and Fraser Drive NE in Rockford. The driver rolled down his window and asked for directions to an unknown location, the teen said.
The teen said the driver then opened the door and reached out to grab the runner. The teen was able to run away and call for help, and the driver sped away.
The Kent County Sheriff's Department said in a Wednesday release the teen "admitted that he fabricated the subject opening the door and trying to grab him."
The case has been sent to the prosecutor's office for review.
