GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A jury has found a Kent County teacher guilty of having a sexual relationship with a student.
Jon Jungkind was found guilty of one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and not guilty of a second count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jungkind was arrested in November 2011 after he was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old Cedar Springs student.
In January, the teen in question testified that Jungkind had unprotected sex with her, got her pregnant and bought her a series of abortion pills. She said at the time they had a relationship in the summer of 2011, she had a "big crush" on him and "loved him." She said the sex was consensual.
Jungkind had been on administrative leave with the district pending the outcome of the case. He is now no longer with the district, and his salary - which had been placed in escrow - has been returned to the district.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 17.
