ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A Montcalm County man died when his motorcycle collided with an SUV in Alpine Township.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Friday on Seven Mile Road near Comstock Park Drive NW, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Department.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Darrell Eugene Proctor was riding his motorcycle east when a westbound Ford Explorer crossed into his lane. The two vehicles collided.

Proctor was 42 and from Trufant.

The 36-year-old Rockford man driving the Explorer was not hurt.

Proctor was wearing a helmet and alcohol is not considered a factor, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
