WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) - State Farm is closing a Kent County facility, affecting 71 workers.
The facility at 985 Gezon Parkway SW in Wyoming will close Jan. 31, 2013. Workers dealt with claim processing.
State Farm made the announcement in May 2011, a spokesperson told 24 Hour News 8 on Thursday. A WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act) letter was issued regarding the closure.
The spokesperson said the company is trying to become more efficient.
Some of the 71 positions are moving to the company's facility in Portage -- some will commute and others received a relocation benefit.
The other affected employees retired.
