SPARTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman is dead after running a stop sign in Sparta Township.
The victim's car was headed west on 12 Mile Road northwest of Sparta when the driver failed to obey a stop sign and broadsided another car northbound on Fruit Ridge Avenue.
The driver who ran the stop sign, 29-year-old Jessica Lee Hook of Byron Center, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other car, 45-year-old Linda Crowe, and passenger Kenneth Rolfe, 35 -- both of Grant -- were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The woman who was killed was wearing her seatbelt.
