GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Between 2-6 inches of snow is expected to fall throughout West Michigan Sunday, making travel in the region somewhat tricky.

The heaviest snow will fall from I-96 to the south, but the snow will taper to flurries by late afternoon. Temperatures will hold in the 20s.

As of about 2:30 p.m. Sunday:

Allegan County dispatchers said that plows are wrapping up, as there has been little accumulation.

Kent County reported that main roads still have scattered slippery spots. Many left turn lanes are mostly slush. Southern Kent County has seen the worst of it.  Plow and salt crews started work at 6 a.m. and the night crew will be back on the road at 6 p.m.

Newaygo County reported that highways are clear, but back roads are still messy. The southeast corner of the county got hit early, but all trucks are now off the roads.

24 Hour News 8 will keep an eye on the roads. You can check out up-to-the-minute traffic conditions at our traffic page.

The messy roads have prompted several closings.
