EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - There has been a recent rash of break-ins in East Grand Rapids.

There were six serious home invasions during which the doors of the homes were kicked in and a lot of property was stolen, according to East Grand Rapids police.

On top of those break-ins, there have been several other home invasions -- more than a dozen in all. Many of the robberies happened during the day.

Police say they believe the suspects are knocking on doors to see if people are inside. When they determine that the house is clear, they break in.

In several cases, the thieves have made out with tens of thousands of dollars-worth of goods.

East Grand Rapids police said they have been working with neighboring agencies, as many of them have also seen higher numbers of robberies.

Authorities have not yet identified any suspects.
