KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) - Police in Kentwood are asking the public to help track down a young man wanted in connection with a homicide.

Charles Allen Brown Jr., 19, is being named a person of interest in the case, and wanted for questioning. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Police want to find out what he knows about the shooting death of 28-year-old Michael Bockheim.

Bockheim was sitting in a van in the parking lot of the Arbor Lane apartment complex in Kentwood. Police say Bockheim and the van's driver were at the apartment for a drug deal. That is when two men approached the van and ended up firing gunshots, hitting Bockheim.

The driver rushed Bockheim to a Wyoming home where a nurse tried to help him. But Bockheim was dead when rescuers arrived.

The driver then told police it all happened in Wyoming. Police think that story was made up to cover for the fact the shooting happened during a botched drug deal in the middle of a busy apartment complex parking lot.

Anyone with information about Brown is asked to call the Kentwood Police Department at 616.698.6580 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
