ADA, Mich. (WOOD) - A kayaker who was not wearing a life jacket was rescued from the Thornapple River after his wife called for help.
Emergency crews responded to the area at Thornapple River Drive and Fase Street and pulled the man out around 12:26 p.m.
The man was alone in a kayak and even though he doesn't know how to swim he was not wearing a life jacket. His wife called for help when he went into the water.
He had been in the water for about 45 minutes and was taken to the hospital for treatment of hypothermia. He is expected to recover.
His name has not been released.
