ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) - No charges will be filed in a sexting case out of East Rockford Middle School.
Four East Rockford Middle School students were suspended in December 2012 after a 13-year-old girl texted a photo of herself topless.
The middle school principal's summary of events, obtained from the district via the Freedom of Information Act, reveals the girl was called by a boy who asked her to send him a picture of herself topless. The photo was passed along to at least two other students, according to the report, and soon circulated the student population.
After the Kent County Sheriff's Department presented the case to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office, no charges were authorized.
Chief assistant prosecuting attorney Chris Becker told 24 Hour News 8 via email that is because the photo in question was never obtained by authorities. Its existence couldn't be confirmed independently of witness statements, which weren't enough evidence to prosecute.
