LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan National Guard says soldiers are returning this weekend following a 12-month tour of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Officials say about 80 Michigan National Guard Soldiers from the Flint-based 125th Infantry Battalion are expected to arrive Sunday, Sept. 16 at Capital City Airport in Lansing.

Of those 80, 11 are from Wyoming and are expected home around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

While in Afghanistan, the unit had multiple missions to include a security mission in support of the International Security Assistance Force and an advisory mission to the Afghan National Police.

Along with Wyoming, the unit has companies in Detroit, Saginaw, Alpena, Big Rapids and Bay City.

It is more cost-effective for the military to send troops home in smaller groups. The National Guard expected that it will take six to eight groups to get everyone from the unit home.

The first wave of Wyoming guardsmen returned home Aug. 17.
