Man dies after being hit by car

Benjamin Folkertsma, 38, from Grand Rapids

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) - A man who was struck by a vehicle hit as he walked along Countrywood Drive near Breton Road SE in Kentwood has died.

Benjamin Folkertsma, 38, from Grand Rapids was hit around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. He was initially hospitalized in critical condition.

He died Saturday night, according to MLive.

MLive says Folkertsma worked as a graphic designer in Grand Rapids. He was described by coworkers as kind and genuine.

Police say Folkertsma was wearing dark clothing and walking in a dark section of the road.

The driver, a Kentwood man, was uninjured and released at the scene.
