GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A man has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a child in his home, which police say was an unlicensed day care center run by his wife.
Leroy George will spend the next 12 months in the Kent County jail, five years on probation, six months on home confinement after jail and will haves to register as a sex offender.
His trial was supposed to begin in February, but instead he pleaded no contest to one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Other two counts of those same charges were dismissed.
The alleged victim was younger than 13 and told her parents what happened, resulting in George's arrest in July 2010.
George's wife ran the day care in the Grand Village Estates Park in Gaines Township, where the alleged crimes took place starting in February 2010.
Investigators think the Georges had been operating the unlicensed day care for at least three years.
