Kentwood to fill empty commission seat

Seat was vacated when Richard Clanton became mayor

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) - The Kentwood City Commission is now accepting applicants to serve as a representative of its Ward 1.

A Ward 1 seat was opened up when Richard Clanton was appointed as Mayor in June after the late Richard Root resigned effective June 4.

Root, who battled cancer for years, died June 9.

Applications to fill the seat will be accepted between July 5 and July 20 at the Kentwood City Clerk's Office. Interviews will be conducted the week of July 30.

Whoever fills the seat will serve until November 2013.
