OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man who disappeared earlier this week has been found safe.
Family members of Jeffrey Oakes told 24 Hour News 8 he was located Wednesday morning and police later confirmed that information.
The 28-year-old left a residence at 9815 Lincoln Lake Avenue NE in Oakfield Township around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Deputies responded at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday to begin their investigation after receiving a missing persons report.
Police said Oakes was thought to have been at a family friend's cottage at 13295 Lynn Dr. NE near Woodbeck Lake in Spencer Township. But he was not seen here.
Police said Oakes called several family members at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, stating he was using a speed boat on the lake.
Oakes is known to abuse alcohol and leave home for several days at a time but always stays in contact with family members, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
