12+ inches of snow in many local cities

From Thursday afternoon to Friday morning storm

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Some West Michigan cities received more than a foot of snow from a storm that began Thursday afternoon and ended Friday morning.

Here are some totals as of 10:40 a.m. Friday --

  • 14.8 inches -- Muskegon
  • 14 inches -- Newaygo
  • 12.5 inches -- White Cloud
  • 10.5 inches -- Howard City
  • 10 inches -- Belmont
  • 9.5 inches -- Kent City
  • 9 inches -- Comstock Park
  • 7 inches -- Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Cascade Township
  • 6 inches -- Bloomingdale
  • 4 inches -- Bellevue
  • 3.9 inches -- Lansing
  • 3.5 inches -- Kalamazoo

The storm began Thursday with a heavier, wetter type of snow falling, and then the precipitation changed to all snow throughout the night and into Friday morning.

The sun will come and the high will be near 30 degrees Friday afternoon.
