CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) - The Cedar Springs Police Department is investigating a robbery at a gas station.
Authorities were dispatched at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday to the Admiral gas station, 194 S. Main St. in Cedar Springs.
The female employee called 911 and told police a masked man entered the business and demanded cash. No weapon was seen but the suspect kept one hand inside the front pocket of his clothing. The clerk gave an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect who then fled the scene on foot, police said.
The suspect is a white male, having a smoker's or raspy voice, and wearing dark clothing and a mask that covered all of his face except for his eyes.
The clerk described him being 5 feet 6 inches tall and having a medium build.
A Michigan State Police K-9 unit tracked the suspect to a parking lot just north and east of the business, according to a news release.
The Kent County Sheriff's Department assisted in establishing a perimeter.
A citizen called police after seeing a speeding vehicle traveling on his street soon after the robbery.
"We were informed a full size green or black vehicle, possibly a Chevy Tahoe or Suburban, was driving with no headlights on heading east [on] Cherry Street towards the dead-end then turning around and speeding back west," according to the Cedar Springs Police Department statement.
Witnesses with extra information are asked to call the Cedar Springs Police Department at 616.696.1311.
