Fire damages China Chef

Nobody was inside the building at the time

WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) - Fire damaged a Kent County restaurant early Tuesday morning.

A passerby called 911 after seeing flames coming out of the roof of China Chef, 4335 Lake Michigan Dr. NW in Walker.

Firefighters arrived around 4:30 a.m. and saw the fire in the ventilation system above the stove, officials at the scene told 24 Hour News 8.

The fire was extinguished a short time later.

Nobody was inside the building when the fire sparked.
