KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) - Firefighters from Kentwood continue to investigate a fire that sparked Tuesday morning at a food factory.

They were dispatched around 7 a.m. to Hearthside Foods, 3061 Shaffer Ave. SE.

A Kentwood fire official told 24 Hour News 8 that a crouton oven caught on fire, which burned the machine, some duct work and a small section of the roof.

An employee emailed 24 Hour News 8 via ReportIt stating he "just left work from there and smoke rolling out of roof and building evacuted. Fire department on site." (sic)

24 Hour News 8 arrived at the scene and saw an ambulance and a fire truck on the property.

No other information has been released at this time.
