ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) - A family escaped a fire that destroyed their Rockford home when it began around 3 a.m. Sunday.
When firefighters arrived in the 400 block of Rogue River Drive the house was already engulfed. They spent more than an hour actively trying to douse the fire.
The family tells 24 Hour News 8 five people were inside the house before the fire. Homeowners Mark and Cindy Brown were asleep in the home as well as their 2 children and a friend of one of the kids.
Everyone got out of the house before the house became fully engulfed. The homeowners think the fire started from a car that was parked in the garage; the fire spread to the house after engulfing the garage.
