CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 63-year-old man was seriously injured when he tried to pass a truck-and-trailer but collided head-on with another car, then struck the truck and caused it to jackknife.
The crash on Pettis Avenue between Cannonsburg Road and Five Mile Road NE in Kent County happened around 6:45 a.m. Friday.
Police said Keith Richard Buck was driving a Ford Focus south on Pettis. He tried to pass a truck, but hit an oncoming Volkswagen Jetta. Buck's car then hit the truck's trailer, which caused the jackknife.
The trailer separated from the truck - a Chevy Silverado - and rolled over.
Buck, of Comstock Park, was flown by Aero Med to Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids.
The Jetta's driver, 21-year-old Scott Werkema was not hurt. Neither was the truck driver, Bruce Biggs, 62, of Sparta. All three drivers were wearing seat belts.
