CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - One of eight people was injured when two vehicles collided at a Kent County intersection.
The scene -- Whitneyville Avenue and 100th Street SE in Caledonia Township -- is closed to traffic for the next three to four hours as crews reset a utility pole that was knocked down in the crash.
A Buick vehicle was stopped at the intersection, and the driver waved another car on, police told 24 Hour News 8.
The Buick driver then turned and was struck by a southbound SUV. Police said the Buick driver did not see the SUV when he turned.
The SUV then hit a utility pole.
Seven people were in the SUV, including six children. They were all wearing restraints and not injured.
The driver of the Buick was a man in his 50s. An ambulance transported him to Saint Mary's Health Care in Grand Rapids, and his condition is unknown.
Police said drugs, alcohol and speed were not factors in the collision.
