COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) - A 30-year-old young adult minister at a Catholic church in Comstock Park has been arrested and dismissed from his duties, a diocese spokesman told 24 Hour News 8.
Matt Abid, who was involved with the young adult ministry "Credo" at Holy Trinity, was arrested by the Kent County Sheriff's Department on one count of felony sexual assault.
The Kent County Sheriff's Department said they began their investigation recently. Abid is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a girl when she was 15 in the fall of 2011, and it continued after she turned 16.
He faces one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Both the church and the diocese are cooperating fully with the investigation, authorities said, adding they do not believe there are any other victims.
