NELSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man is facing numerous charges after police spotted him breaking into an outbuilding in Kent County. He was eventually arrested due to some alert witnesses.
Sheriff's deputies responded Tuesday night to a suspicious situation near Sipple Avenue and 20 Mile Road NE in Nelson Township. They arrived and saw the suspect committing the burglary.
The suspect then ran from the scene and a Michigan State Police K-9 unit was dispatched to help in the search of the suspect.
Then at 12 a.m. Wednesday, "the suspect was located after he was picked up from the area in an attempt to get back to Grand Rapids," according to a news release.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and then to the Kent County Correctional Facility on charges of breaking and entering of a building with intent, resisting and obstructing, and larceny from a motor vehicle.
The sheriff's department received several 911 calls from residents in the area reporting sightings of the suspect. These calls assisted police in tracking and identifying the suspect.
