CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Two vehicles collided head-on along Belding Road Tuesday afternoon, critically injuring one driver and closing the road at Egypt Valley Avenue for a few hours.
A van, eastbound on Belding, was stopped to take a left turn. The driver of a Saturn tried to pass the van on the left and collided with an oncoming Ford Explorer, police said.
The Saturn driver, described as an elderly woman, was critically hurt and taken by Aero Med to Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, police at the scene told 24 Hour News 8.
The driver and the passenger in the Explorer were not hurt.
The crash in Cannon Township caused the dismissal of students from Rockford Christian School to be delayed and no bussing was available. Parents were asked to contact the school for information.
The road reopened just before 5 p.m.
