CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 17-year-old male has been arraigned for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend and others who tried to protect her.
A 911 call was made around 3:30 a.m. Sunday regarding a fight in the 100 block of E. Cherry Street in Cedar Springs.
A group of teens inside a home heard a knock on the door of the residence. One of the females inside answered the door and saw her ex-boyfriend outside with another person. As she told him to leave, she was grabbed and pulled outside the home, police said.
Others, including the adult homeowner who was awakened and told about the disturbance, came outside to assist her. That is when the girl's ex-boyfriend assaulted them using brass knuckles, police said.
A 16-year-old girl was treated at United Memorial Hospital in Greenville for a laceration near her left eye.
An officer located the suspect -- Zachery Otto Goodin of Morley -- nearby and arrested him.
The Kent County Prosecutor's Office issued two felony assault charges and two misdemeanor charges -- one for domestic assault and one for simple assault based upon the complaint and persons injured, according to a news release.
Goodin was arraigned Monday and his bond was set at $2,000.
