ADA, Mich. (WOOD) - Amway Corp. on Monday announced strategic adjustments, resulting in nearly 100 employees losing their jobs -- the majority at its headquarters in Ada.
According to a news release, the company said it would consolidate several finance-related functions, now conducted in multiple offices worldwide, into regional process centers.
The finance changes are expected to result in the loss of 93 jobs in the United States and Canada during the next 15 months. However, the company said it still hoped to make use of other methods to reduce the number of affected employees, including attrition, early retirement and moving employees to open positions elsewhere in the company.
Amway also confirmed a three-year streamlining process for some of its European operations. The company said it did not expect to have detailed plans about the European changes until next year.
"To continue our growth around the world, Amway must constantly change and adjust to the competitive global business environment," said Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel. "We have worked hard to make those changes with the smallest negative job impact possible."
"We thank all our employees for their continued commitment during this challenging time, and we will do our best to help those who lose their jobs transition to new career opportunities," said Amway President Doug DeVos.
