ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Four teenagers were injured when their SUV rolled over several times on a Kent County road Monday night.

The two rear-seat passengers were not wearing seat belts and ejected from the Jeep Liberty, police said. They are in critical condition at a hospital --

-- Jenna Lyn Rickner, 17, from Rockford suffered a head laceration and multiple abrasions
-- Marcus Deon-Maric Walls, 17, from Grand Rapids suffered a head injury and multiple abrasions

The driver -- 16-year-old Ashley Marie Benzer from Cedar Springs -- was wearing a seat belt and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The third passenger -- 18-year-old Kendal Lenae Oberdorfer from Cedar Springs -- was wearing a seat belt and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The teens were traveling west along the 1800 block of 16 Mile Road NE in Algoma Township around 9:15 p.m. en route to a friend's house for a bonfire, police said.

Their vehicle went off the road, down into the ditch, went back onto the road and overturned, according to a news release.

Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and saw all four victims lying in the road.

Ashley told police she was driving too fast on the gravel road.

Authorities said alcohol was not a factor in the wreck.

Drivers and front-seat passengers need to wear seat belts, as required by state law, according to Kent County Sheriff's Department officials at the scene. Back-seat passengers are not required to wear seat belts.
