Retirement home homicide investigated

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A resident of the Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community in Cascade Township was found dead on Tuesday.

The resident, Mary Morrison, 89, was found after retirement community staff came to check on her when she did not show up to the common area for breakfast on Tuesday morning.

An autopsy conducted by the Kent County Medical Examiner's Office determined the death to be a homicide.

In a statement, the home's Dan Spaulding said, "The entire Sentinel Pointe family mourns the loss of our longtime resident. We are cooperating fully with investigating authorities."
