GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Many West Michigan Catholic churches have twins in Haiti through a Tennessee-based agency that pairs Catholic parishes in the US and Canada with parishes there.

The Parish Twinnings Program of America boasts 14 West Michigan churches from nine towns with sister churches, hospitals or schools in Haiti.

Those churches with their Haitian twin are:

  • Holy Trinity Church in Comstock Park (Port Au Prince Church)
  • St. Patrick Church in Grand Haven (Port Au Prince Church)
  • St. Pius X Church in Grandville (Port Au Prince Church)
  • Prince of Peace Church in North Muskegon
  • St. Margaret Church in Otsego
  • St. Thomas the Apostle in Muskegon
  • Our Lady of Grace Church in Muskegon
  • St. Mary's Church in Marne
  • St. Anthony Church in Grand Haven
  • St. Robert's Church in Ada
  • Aquinas College Campus Ministry in Grand Rapids
  • St. Stephen's Church in Grand Rapids
  • St. Mary Magdalene Church in Kentwood
  • Holy Spirit Church in Grand Rapids

Haiti is an overwhelmingly Catholic country, with estimates between 65% - 85% of all Haitians being Catholic.
