GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - An Amber Alert has been canceled for a 16-year-old girl and her 1-year-old son, who were found unharmed at Sundance Grill & Bar in downtown Grand Rapids around 5 p.m.
Someone saw the teen at the restaurant and called police. It's unknown how the pair arrived downtown.
There is no word on whether charges will be filed, but authorities say that's unlikely.
Octavia and Rakeem Pendergrass were last seen around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Grand Rapids Township. An Amber Alert was issued around 3:30 p.m.
The teen has sickle cell anemia and was without her medication, which posed a risk to the safety of herself and the child, according to a release from the Kent County Sheriff's Department.
The pair was considered endangered.
Octavia and Rakeem Pendergrass were waiting in a vehicle while their guardian went into the IRS office at 3251 N. Evergreen. When the guardian returned to the car about 30 minutes later, 16-year-old Octavia and Rakeem, 15 months, were gone.
Octavia likely walked away carrying the baby from the intersection of East Beltline and North Evergreen Road.
The pair is from Lake City of Missaukee County, in northern Michigan and is not familiar with the area.
