COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) - A ninth-grader held a knife to the throat of a classmate Friday in a hallway at Comstock Park High School, leading to an arrest.
The incident happened about 8 a.m., when two ninth-graders cornered a third ninth-grader in the hallway, Superintendent Ethan Ebenstein said.
One of the two "aggressors" pulled a folding knife and threatened the victim, he said. The victim suffered a scratch on his forehead during the short scuffle, but didn't need medical attention, Ebenstein said.
Moments after the fight, school staff apprehended the suspects and found the knife outside, the superintendent said. They also called the Kent County Sheriff's Department.
The superintendent told 24 Hour News 8 the boy who allegedly used the knife was being held at the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center, while the other was being investigated.
The fight was over a "personal relationship," Ebenstein said. The suspects were immediately suspended and will face expulsion hearings before the end of the month.
School officials said they sent a letter home to parents describing the incident.
