WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) - A chain-reaction crash shut down eastbound I-96 in Walker for hours Thursday night and Friday morning.

It was at around 11:40 p.m. when police say a vehicle attempting to enter the highway slowed down on the Alpine Avenue on-ramp, and was rear-ended by the vehicle behind it.

The impact pushed the first vehicle in front a semi-truck hauling asphalt, causing the truck to roll over and spill its load onto the highway.

Police say no one was hurt in the crash.

Crews worked to remove the spilled asphalt off the road before it hardened.

The highway reopened at around 2 a.m. Friday.
